Solution

Definition of thermal energy.

As energy flows from one system to another, a difference in temperature occurs, which is called thermal energy.

Application of thermal energy in present times.

  1. Steel and iron businesses use thermal energy to process iron ore with coke or limestone to make steel. When molten iron is cast into ingots and rolled into sheets by hot and cold rolling, the thermal energy contained in it is dissipated.
  2. An electric kettle heats the element, releasing thermal energy that can be used to boil tea, milk, or coffee.
  3. Thermal energy is converted to electric energy by using geothermal hot springs to power turbines that create electricity.
  4. Thermal energy is used to process plastics, textiles, adhesives, and rubbers. Automobile parts, aircraft parts, coffee cup foam, and many other items are made of polymers.
