How many congruence rules are there?
Step 1: Definition of Side-Side-Side rule
According to the SSS rule of the congruency of triangles, two triangles are said to be congruent when all three sides of both the triangles are equal.
This rule is also called the Side-Side-Side rule.
Step 2: Definition of Side-Angle-Side rule
According to the SAS rule of the congruency of triangles, two triangles are said to be congruent when any two sides and the angle between them of both the triangles are equal.
This rule is also called the Side-Angle-Side rule.
Step 3: Definition of Angle-Side-Angle rule
According to the ASA rule of the congruency of triangles, two triangles are said to be congruent when any two angles and the side included between the angles of both the triangles are equal.
This rule is also called the Angle-Side-Angle rule.
Step 4: Definition of Right angled-Hypotenuse-Side rule
According to the RHS rule of the congruency of triangles, two right-angled triangles are said to be congruent when the hypotenuse and one side of one triangle of both the triangles are equal.
This rule is also called the Right angled-Hypotenuse-Side rule.
Hence, there are four rules of congruency.
