Question

How many edges are there in a cube?

Open in App
Solution

Edges in a cube

A cube is a three-dimensional shape bounded by six square faces.

An edge is a line segment connecting two vertices and a side of one of the faces of the cuboid.

A vertex is a point defining the corner of a polygon.

A face is a flat surface of a 3D polygon.

The relationship between vertices, faces and edges is given by Euler's formula,
V-E+F=2
Where V is the number of vertices, E is the number of edges and F is the number of faces.

Here, V=8,F=6 8-E+6=2E=12

A cube has 12 edges.

Hence, a cube has 12 edges.
