Solution

Use the rule of allegation

Given, cost of expensive tea, CPE=Rs.300 per kg
Cost of cheaper tea, CPC=Rs.240 per kg
Weight of cheaper tea in the mixture mC=10kg
Price of the mixture, CPM=Rs.260 per kg
Let x be the quantity of the expensive tea needed

By the rule of allegation,
QuantityofcheapervarietyQuantityofcostliervariety=Priceofcostliervariety-MeanpriceMeanprice-Priceofcheapervariety

Thus,
mCx=CPE-CPMCPM-CPC10x=300-260260-24010x=4020x=5kg

Hence, 5kg of tea worth 300 rupees per kg should be mixed with 10kg of tea worth 240 per kg to produce a mixture to cost 260 per kg
