How the process of absorption of oxygen happens in the lungs?

Open in App
Solution

Lungs:

Lungs are the vital organs in our body that are responsible for the transport of gases in and outside the body.

Process of absorption of oxygen by the lungs:

  1. When we breathe in air, it goes to the lungs.
  2. In the lungs, the oxygen gets assimilated into the blood.
  3. Then the blood distributes this oxygen to the body and to the other parts of the body, while carbon dioxide enters the bloodstream via diffusion.
  4. The blood goes back to the lungs where it gives carbon dioxide to be removed from the body and takes more oxygen with it.
