Solution

The correct option is B

33

Step 1: Find the equation

Let the first term =a1

Common difference =d

Number of terms =n

nth term an =a1+(n-1)d

The 2nd term =a1+(2-1)d

=a1+d

The 5th term =a1+(5-1)d

=a1+4d

The given condition is, the 2nd term of is 13

a1+d=13.....(1)

Another given condition, is the 5th term is 25.

a1+4d=25.....(2)

Step 2. Finding the first term and common difference.

Subtracting equation (2) from equation (1) we get

a1+d=13-a1-4d=-25-3d=-12d=4

Therefore the common difference is 4

Putting the value of d in equation (1) we get

a1+d=13a1+4=13a1=13-4a1=9

Therefore the first term is 9

Step 3. Finding the value of the 7th term

The 7th term is

an=a1+n-1d

Now substituting a1=9,d=4 and n=7 , we get

an=9+7-14

a7=9+6×4=33

Hence, the correct option is OptionB
