Question

If three different coins are tossed together, what is the probability of getting two heads?

Open in App
Solution

Three different coins are tossed together.
Total outcomes = {(HHH), (THH), (HTH), (HHT), (TTT), (TTH), (THT), (HTT)}
i.e. n(S) = 8
Let E be the event of getting two heads.
E = {THH, HTH, HHT}
So, n(E) = 3
P(E) = n(E)/n(S)
= 3/8
Therefore, the probability of getting two heads is 3/8.
