Solution

Linear Equation: Linear equations are a combination of both constants and variables. The linear equations in one variable is an equation which can be expressed in the form ax+b=0, where band a are integers,x is a variable and the equation has only one solution. The linear equation has the highest exponent of variables as1 and has only one variable.

For example, 4x+2=8 is a linear equation having a single variable in it.

Therefore, this equation has only one solution, which is x=32and the variable x of the this equation is having highest power as 1.

Hence, in a linear equation, the highest power of the variable appearing in the equation is one.
