Question

In a row of trees, one tree is fifth from either end of the row. How many trees are there in the row?

Open in App
Solution

Compute the number of trees in the row

Since, one tree is on the fifth number when counted from either side. That means, 5 is the middle term.

Since, only one middle term is there that means the total number of terms n will be odd.

n+12=5n+1=10n=9

Hence, there are 9 trees in the row.
