In a test called ACSAT, the average marks of 15 test takers are 240. if the marks of 5 test takers are subtracted, the average marks decrease by 40. what are the average marks of 5 test takers?

Compute the required value.

The total marks obtained by all test takers are 240·15=3600.

Since the average marks decrease by 40 if the marks of 5 test-takers are subtracted.

Therefore, the total marks obtained by 10 test-taker are 10·(240-40)=2000.

So, the total marked get by five other than 10 test-taker are 3600-2000=1600.

Therefore, the average marks of the 5 subtracted test-takers are 16005=320.

Hence, the average marks of 5 test-takers are 320.
