Question

In ABC, right-angled at B,AB=24cm,BC=7cm. Determine: sinC,cosC

Open in App
Solution

Step- 1: Find hypotenuse of the given triangle:

Given: ABC right-angled at B, AB=24cm,BC=7cmAC is the hypotenuse.

According to Pythagoras theorem, if a,b,c are sides of the triangle where b>a,c then b=a2+c2

AB=24cm,BC=7cmAC=AB2+BC2=242+72=625AC=25cm

Step- 2: Find the required values:

We know that for a right angled triangle sinθ=PH,cosθ=BH where P,B,H are perpendicular, base and hypotenuse respectively.

sinC=PH=ABAC=2425cosC=BH=BCAC=725

Hence the required values of sinC,cosC are 2425,725 respectively.
