Solution

Concave lens – Principal focal point (two of them)

Concave Lens:

  1. A lens where at least one of its two curved surfaces is concave in nature, or the surface is curved inwards is called a concave lens.
  2. Due to this inward curve shape of the lens, it is thinner towards the center than its edges.
  3. Therefore, when a light ray suffers refraction from a concave lens, it diverges the light ray.
  4. Upon tracing back the diverged light ray we get the position of the virtual image formed.
  5. Hence, the virtual image is generally formed on the side of the object.
  6. It is used by patients with myopia or short-sightedness.

Hence, in concave lens the light ray diverges after passing through it.
