Solution

Use of metallic ropes on the carrier taking inflammable material:-

  • We know that when two bodies are rubbed with each other, positive charge and negative charge are induced simultaneously in equal amounts.
  • This happens due to the transfer of electrons.
  • We also know that inflammable materials are those substances that catch fire easily, some examples are petrol, diesel, etc.
  • Metallic ropes are suspended on the carrier which takes inflammable material in such a way that the body of the carrier is in contact with the earth.
  • Spark can be generated due to the friction, and hence in those cases, metallic wires are used which are connected to the earth which causes earthing and prevents accidents.
  • In other words, we can say that metallic ropes provide a path to the charge induced on the surface of carriers to keep the body in contact with the earth.
  • In this way to avoid the inflammable material catching fire, the metallic ropes are suspended which carry the induced charge and transfer it to the earth, via earthing.
