In which metals corrosion is useful?

In metals like aluminum and copper corrosion is helpful. This protects the metal beneath the outer corroded layer. These two metals have a mechanism to protect themselves from corrosion but other metals do not have this property. Their interconnections involves coating and make it useful for the metals. Other metals get corroded with atmospheric conditions.
