No, imprest is not a type of cash book. It is the system of cash reimbursement that is made by the chief cashier to the petty cashier for the small expenses taking place on a daily basis in the organisation.

Examples of such transactions can be the purchase of stationery, payment for office supplies, refreshments etc.
