Solution

Lunar Phase Clock : 17 Steps (with Pictures) - Instructables

Lunar Cycle:

  1. The lunar cycle is the cycle of the moon appearing from the new moon to the full moon.
  2. This lunar cycle has a duration of 28 days.
  3. This means that if John sees a full moon on a particular day, the moon will complete its full lunar cycle in the next 28 days, allowing John to come across the full moon in the 29th day again.
  4. In the first 14 days, or the first half of the lunar cycle, the full moon reduces to zero. This day is called as the new moon where the moon cannot be seen.
  5. In the next 14 days, or the second half of the lunar cycle, the size of the moon increases gradually, and finally, on the last day, we are able to see the entire moon.
  6. Hence, the full moon cycles back again on the 29th day.

Hence, John will be able to see the moon after 29 days.
