Functions of caudal fin:

  1. Caudal fin of a fish is present at the tip of the tail and aids in the streamlined movement of fishes.
  2. Fins help the fishes to swim in the water.
  3. Their fins are supported by the fin rays from the internal side, these rays could be bony, cartilaginous, fibrous, or horny.
  4. Fishes generally have two types of fins, paired lateral fins and unpaired median fins.
