Various types of teeth:

  1. The teeth that are used to chew and bite the food are called incisors, these are labelled as A, and are 8 in number.
  2. The teeth labelled as B are canines that are primarily present in carnivores for tearing and piercing, these are 4 in number.
  3. The next 8 teeth are called pre-molars and are labelled as C in the figure, these are mainly used for grinding and chewing.
  4. The teeth labelled as D are called molars and are present only in adults, these are 12 in number.
