Digestive system:

  1. Digestive system in humans begins from the mouth or the oral cavity and goes up to the anus.
  2. The process of digestion begins in the mouth only.
  3. Several organs that are involved in the process of digestion in humans include- the mouth, food pipe, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and anus.
  4. Some glands that facilitate the digestion process are- the salivary gland, liver, pancreas, and gall bladder.

Some points about the digestive system:

  1. Liver is the largest gland in the human body and it helps in the process of digestion by secreting bile juice.
  2. The process of digestion of proteins begins in the stomach, which is a muscular organ that secretes enzymes like pepsin that help in protein digestion.
  3. Pancreas is the gland that secretes several enzymes that work in food digestion, after synthesizing the enzymes it drains its secretions into the small intestine.
  4. Bile juice is secreted by the liver and is stored in the gall bladder.
