The four channels by which heat is lost from the body are as follows:

  1. Lungs

Heat loss happens when warm air is sucked out, which can be felt by softly blowing on the back of your hand with your mouth wide open. Heat loss is also caused by the vaporization of water from the lungs.

2. Skin

Conduction, convection, radiation, and sweat evaporation account for over 85 percent of heat loss through the skin.

3. Foods

When cold foods enter the body, heat is lost
