Melting point of ice_______________?

Solution

Melting Point:

  • The melting point of a substance is known as the particular temperature at which it changes state from solid to liquid.
  • The melting point of a substance mostly depends on pressure which is said to be specified at a standard pressure i.e 1 atm.

The melting point of ice:

  • Usually, the Freshwater transitions between the solid and liquid states at 32°F(0°C) .
  • Also, at temperatures above 32°F(0°C), ice tends to melt and changes state from a solid to a liquid (water), hence this is the melting point of water.
  • Also, the melting point of ice tends to decrease with an increase in pressure because when pressure increases volume tends to decrease and the volume of water became less than ice.

Hence, Melting point of ice 32°F(0°C).
