Solution

Fertilization:

  1. It is the process of fusion of male gametes called sperms and female gamete called an egg. The egg is larger in size and stationary but the sperm is smaller in size and motile.

Implantation:

  1. The process of implanting begins when an embryo — a fertilized egg — travels through the fallopian tube and burrows deep into the uterine lining, where it will reside until delivery. While many people associate fertilization with the start of a pregnancy, proper implantation is equally crucial.

Labelling of the diagram:

  1. (1) - Vagina: The flexible, muscular portion of the female genital canal known as the vagina is found in animals. Birth and sexual activity are both possible through the vagina. It also facilitates the flow of menstrual blood, a process essential to the menstrual cycle in both humans and closely related animals.
  2. (2) - Cervical canal: The cervix is traversed by the cervical canal. It permits a baby (fetus) and menstrual blood to move from the womb into the vagina. To fertilize the egg, the sperm travels up the cervical canal, into the uterine cavity, and into the fallopian tubes.
  3. (3) - Internal OS: The internal os or internal orifice of the cervix uteri refers to the aperture into the uterus. On the outside of the uterus, halfway between the apex and the base, it corresponds to the tiny constriction known as the isthmus.
  4. (4) - Ovary: One of two female glands that produce the feminine hormones progesterone and estrogen as well as the eggs. Female characteristics including breast growth, body shape, and body hair are significantly influenced by these hormones.
  5. (5) - Fimbriae: The little, finger-like extensions at the end of the fallopian tubes known as the fimbriae of the uterine tube, or fimbriae tube, are where eggs go from the ovaries to the uterus. The ovary and fimbriae are joined.
  6. (6) - Fallopian tube: Between the ovaries and the uterus in the female pelvis lie the fallopian tubes, which are bilateral conduits. They serve as conduits for the movement and fertilization of oocytes. Due to their function, the fallopian tubes are frequently the cause of infertility and are also the object of intentional surgical sterilization.
  7. (7) - Uterine fundus: The lower end of the uterus will open into the vagina, while the top end, known as the fundus, will link the fallopian tubes on each side. The fundus, a broad area at the top of the uterus, will house a fertilized embryo as it develops into a baby and will be the superior-most part of the uterus.
