Open in App
Solution

Normality:

  • N is the unit to represent the concentration of any substance in Normality.
  • Normality is described as the number of gram or mole equivalents of solute present in one litre of a solution.
  • 1Nofasubstance=NumberofequivalentweightsVolumeinLitres
  • The equivalent weight of Sodium Chloride i.e., HCl is =36.5gm
  • So, 1NHClwould mean 1gm equivalent of HCl dissolved in 1L solution.
  • 0.1N of HCl would obviously mean 0.1gm equivalent of HCl dissolved in 1L of solution.
