Question

n-factor for H2S during its oxidation to SO2 is:

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Reaction of oxidation of H2S to SO2:

2H2S(g)+3O2(g)2H2O(l)+2SO2(g)

Step 2: Finding the n-factor:

n-factor of H2S:

2(1)+n=0n=-2

n-factor of SO2:

n+2(-2)=0n=4

Therefore, the n-factor of H2S during its oxidation to SO2 is = 4-(-2)=6
