Question

Name the principle on which the jet plane works.

Solution

Principle of Jetplane:

  1. Newton’s third law of motion is the fundamental principle in the Jet planes.
  2. As a jet engine’s exhaust gas ignites backward, the plane itself moves forward.
  3. In simpler words, the action, the force of the exhaust gas shooting backward is equal to the opposite of the reaction which is the force of the plane tending to move forward.
  4. The action moves the exhaust gas, while the reaction that occurred moves the plane.

Newton’s third law:

  1. A jet plane works on the principle of Newton’s third law.
  2. It may be defined as every motion having an equal and opposite reaction.
  3. Another example is when a bird flies because its wings are pushing down on the air, while the air is pushing up on the bird's wings with equal force, pushing the bird up.

Thus, a jet plane works on the principle of Newton's third law.
