Solution

  1. The upward or downward movement of air is mainly created by the differences in pressure and temperature.
  2. Warm air is lighter weightwise and it rises upwards, but, cold air is denser and heavy, hence it moves down to replace the warm air.
  3. Warm air rises, creating a low-pressure region, and cool air sinks, creating a high-pressure zone.
  4. Air originating from areas of high pressure to low pressure creates winds.
  5. Air moving at the three major convection cells in each hemisphere north and south of the equator creates the global wind belts.

Thus, warm air rises whereas cold air comes down.
