One litre of a gas weighs 2gat 300Kand 1atm pressure. If the pressure is made 0.75atm at what temperatures will one litre of the same gas, weigh one gram?

  1. 1L of a gas weighs 2gat 300K and 1atm pressure
  2. The pressure is made 0.75atm with 1L of same gas
  3. Initially the weight of the gas is 2g but the final weight is 1g

Step 2. Formula used

  1. Ideal gas equation=PV=nRT
  2. n=WMw

Where P is the pressure, V is the volume T is the temperature, R is the universal gas constant , n is the number of moles of gas, W the weight of the gas and Mw is the molecular weight of the gas

Step 3. Find the temperature

From ideal gas equation we get PV=nRT

P1=1P2=0.75V1=1V2=1T1=300W1=2W2=1P1V1P2V2=n1T1n2T21×10.75×1=2Mw×3001Mw×T2n=WMwT2=450K

Hence the temperature is 450K
