Solution

Paheli Making the water fit for drinking:

  • With the available materials, Paheli would have undertaken the following steps to purify water.
  • Firstly, she can filter the muddy water with the help of a muslin cloth, which is mainly used for purification purposes.
  • Now, she has to tie the piece of Alum with the help of a thread and submerge it in water and then leave the water undisturbed for some time.
  • After resting for a while, the impurities will finally settle down at the bottom and the water from the top can be drained off.
  • Now she has to boil the discarded water for 10 minutes by covering it with the pan and making it cool down followed by filtering the water.
  • And finally, the water will be purified with filtration that will make it fit for drinking.

Hence, in the above following way, Paheli could have made the water fit for drinking using the materials available to her
