Power in an AC circuit is equal to

Open in App
Solution

Power in an AC circuit -

  1. The amount of power in a circuit at any instant of time is known as instantaneous power in an AC circuit
  2. Poer is very important as it determines the amount of current that flows through the circuit and hence the size of wire required.
  3. Power, in general, is the Voltage of the circuit multiplied by the current flowing through it.
  4. Power can be calculated in 2 ways, average and instantaneous
  5. The average power is equal to the product of average voltage and average current Pavg=Vavg×Iavg
  6. Instantaneous Power will be equal to the product of instantaneous voltage and instantaneous current Pinst.=Vinst.×Iinst

Hence the above-mentioned equation is for power in an AC circuit
