Solution

Step 1: Given Information

A pipe, and a stubborn nut on a bolt.

The length of wrench handle is made twice using the pipe.

Step 2: To find

How much will the torque increase

Step 3: Formula and calculation

We know,

torque=force×perpendiculardistance

Here, length of the wrench handle is the perpendicular distance.

From the equation it is clear that torque is directly proportional to perpendicular distance. Here, force is the same.

Therefore, when it is doubled, i.e., the perpendicular distance is doubled, torque is also doubled

Therefore, the torque will also be doubled
