Membrane-bound cell organelles:

  1. All eukaryotic cells have many membrane-bound cell organelles.
  2. Membrane-bound cell organelles mean the organelles have membranes around them.
  3. Membranes can be single-layered or double-layered.
  4. The single membrane-bound organelles present in cells are Vacuoles, Lysozymes, Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER), Golgi apparatus, etc.
  5. The structure, function, and Secretions (if any) of these cell organelles vary from each other.
  6. On the same basis, they can be differentiated from each other.

Structure

  1. Endoplasmicmic Reticulum is a network of tubes throughout the cytoplasm.
  2. There are two types of ER.
  3. Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum: it contains cisternae, tubules, and vesicles around it. And have ribosomes on its surface.
  4. Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum: They do not have ribosomes on their surface.

It is made up of many flat, pouch-like structures called cisternae.

They are small or large irregular circular-shaped structures.

2.Function
  1. Rough ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM helps in protein synthesis.
  2. The Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum helps in the storage of proteins and lipids
  1. Its primary function is to transport and modify proteins and lipids to their target organ.
  1. The primary function of Vacuoles is to store food and nutrients.
  2. It can also store waste material.
  3. It protects cells from toxins.
3.Secretion
  1. It helps in protein secretion.

  1. The waste material is discarded out of the cell from vacuoles itself.
  2. The process of elimination of waste is known as exocytosis.
4.Location
  1. It is located near the nucleus and before the Golgi bodies.

5.In-plant cell or animal cell
  1. It is present in both plants and animal cells.
