Question

Solve: 3x+4y=10 and 2x-2y=2

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Finding the expression for x from equation 1

The given equations are as follows

3x+4y=10............(1)2x-2y=2..............(2)

From equation (1), x=10-4y3....................3

Step 2: Finding the value of y by putting the value of x in equatrion 2

Put x=10-4y3 in equation (2), we get

2×10-4y3-2y=2

20-8y3-2y=220-8y-6y3=220-14y=6

14y=14

y=1

Step 3: Putting the value of y in equation 3

On putting y=1 in x=10-4y3, we get

x=10-4×13x=63x=2

Hence, x=2 and y=1 is the correct answer.
