The force of gravitation between two bodies varies with r as:

Open in App
Solution

Gravitational force: The force of attraction experienced by a body that has some mass by other massive body is known as gravitational force

  1. Formula : F=Gm1m2r2
  2. where G is the gravitational constant, m1 and m2 are the masses of the two bodies respectively, and r is the distance between the two objects.
  3. The universal gravitational constant has a value 6.674×10-11m3kg-1s-2 which is constant for each and every point in the universe regardless of the magnitude of the gravitational force experienced at that point.
  4. Fis inversely proportional to r2

Hence, the force of gravitation is inversely proportional to r2
