There are two pipes, an inlet pipe which completely fills a tank at 6litreminand an outlet pipe which empties the tank at 4litremin

The pipes function alternately for 1minuteand the inlet pipe is the first to function.

Considering the capacity of the tank as 50litreshow much time will it take to completely fill the tank?

according to the question,

Given that the capacity of the tank is50litres
Now, in the 1stminute,inlet pipe opened. So, 6litreswill be filled
In the 2ndminuteinlet pipe is closed and the outlet pipe is opened.

So,4litresis being emptied.
Hence, at the end of 2minutes the tank will be filled with 2litres
Therefore, the net filling of the tank by the two pipes is 1litremin
Thus, for 50litresof the tank with the pipes functioning alternately for1minute the tank will be filled in 50minutes

Hence, the Tank will be completely filled in 50minutes
