Question

Three capacitors of capacitances 3μF are available. The minimum and maximum capacitances, which may be obtained are

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given data

C1=C2=C3=3μF

Step 2: To find

We have to determine the minimum and maximum capacitances

Step 3: Calculate the minimum capacitance

When three capacitors are connected in series then the capacitance is minimum.

1Cmin=13μF+13μF+13μFCmin=1μF

Step 4: Calculate the maximum capacitance

When three capacitors are connected in parallel then the capacitance is maximum.

Cmax=3μF+3μF+3μF=9μF

Hence, minimum capacitance is 1μF and maximum capacitance is 9μF.
