Question

Through which of the ac circuit elements both the e.m.f. and current are in phase?

Open in App
Solution

Explanation:

  1. A kind of electrical current in which the flowing orientation of electrons alternates at regular intervals or cycles.
  2. An AC circuit that contains just a pure resistance of R ohms is called a resistive circuit. Inductance and capacitance need not be present in a totally resistive circuit.
  3. Alternating current and voltage flow forward and backward in both directions of the circuitry. As a consequence, the alternating current and voltage produce a sinusoidal waveform.
  4. Since the load would be a resistance, the current also the voltage will both achieve their highest or peak values and decrease through zero at the same moment, — in other words, they will rise and fall at around the same time and are therefore seen as being "in-phase."

EMF (Electromotive force):

This force is described as the electric potential generated by an electrochemical cell either through modifying the magnetic field.

Therefore, for a resistive circuit, e.m.f. and current are in phase.
