Under what conditions permanent electromagnet is obtained if a current-carrying solenoid is used? Support your answer with the help of a labelled circuit diagram.

Step 1: Solenoid:

  1. A solenoid is an electromagnet that uses a coil twisted into a closely packed helix to generate a regulated magnetic field.
  2. The solenoid operates like a magnet when an electric current is passed through the wire, having N and S poles at the coil's ends.

Step 2: Conditions for making permanent electromagnet:

  1. A direct current must be pass through the solenoid.
  2. The rod which is used in the solenoid must be made of the magnetic material.
  3. When a permanent ferromagnetic material rod is put within the solenoid, the material substantially increases the magnetic effect and creates a permanent electromagnet.
  4. The number of turns should be very large and closely packed.
