Considering Left Hand Side (L.H.S) we get
$\begin{array}{rcl} = & (- 8) + (- 4) \\ = & - 8 - 4 \\ = & - 12 \end{array}$
From Right Hand Side (R.H.S)
$= (- 8) - (- 4) = - 8 + 4 = - 4$
On comparing L.H.S and R.H.S
L.H.S < R.H.S
