Question

What is chemical and physical equilibrium?

Open in App
Solution

Chemical equilibrium

  • In the case of chemical equilibrium, the rates of the forward and reverse reactions become equal.
  • In this case, there is no net change in the concentrations of the reactants and the products.
  • An example of chemical equilibrium is as follows:-

H2(g)+I2(g)2HI(g)

Physical equilibrium

  • An equilibrium between two different physical states of the same substance is referred to as physical equilibrium.
  • Physical equilibriums show no change in the physical states of matter that are involved in the equilibrium.
  • An example of physical equilibrium is as follows:-

H2O(s)H2O(l)
