What are exponents?

Open in App
Solution

Define exponents.

The exponent of an integer indicates how many times that value should be multiplied by itself. An exponent is a number that is superscripted over another number.

For example:

2×2×2×2×2=25

Here, 2 repeats 5 times.

2 is called the base and 5 is called the exponent or power.

Therefore, the exponent indicates how many times the base repeats itself.
