Open in App
Solution

The inverse operations.

The inverse operations of any operation reverse the result of the original operation to obtain the given number back!

It is also known as the opposite operations.

Example to calculate the inverse operations.

Subtraction and Addition inverse operations each other

Addition: 9+6=15

Subtraction: 15-6=9

Since it is seen that subtraction helps to reverse the result of addition to obtain the given number back.

Multiplication and Division inverse operations:

For multiplication: 4×3=12

For division: 12÷3=4

Since it is seen that division helps to reverse the result of multiplication to obtain the given number back.

Hence, Opposite operations are known as inverse operations. These are the operations that reverse the effects of the operation.
