Melting point

  • Melting point is the temperature at which the solid state of a substance changes into a liquid state at atmospheric pressure.
  • A Solid's melting point indicates the strength of the force of attraction between its particles.

Example of melting point

  • The melting point of ice is 273.15K.

Boiling point

  • The constant temperature at which a liquid starts changing into gas (vapour) is called boiling point.
  • Boiling is a bulk phenomenon.

Example of boiling point

  • Water starts boiling at temperature100C. Hence, boiling point water is 100C.
