Oxoacids of Halogens:

  • An oxoacid comprises Oxygen, Hydrogen, and one other element.
  • Fluorine can form only one oxoacid i.e. Hypofluorous acid HOF while other halogens can form several oxoacids.

Properties of Oxoacids:

  • Most of the oxoacids can not be isolated in a pure state.
  • Oxoacids are stable in aqueous solutions or in the form of salts.
  • Chlorine can form four oxoacids that are shown below.
