What does the presence of striations feature?


Muscle is a soft tissue found in both animals and humans. There are three types of muscles

  • Skeletal or striated muscles
  • Cardiac muscles
  • Smooth muscles

Striated muscle tissue is made up of sarcomeres, which are repeating functional units. Sarcomeres are visible as a series of bands running through the muscle fibres, which accounts for the striated appearance seen in microscopic images of this tissue. There are two types of striated muscles:

  1. Cardiac muscle
  2. Skeletal muscle

Function of striated muscle tissue

Striated muscle tissue’s primary purpose is to generate force and contract. These contractions either pump blood across the body or control breathing, movement, or posture.
