Question

What is a point and line?

Open in App
Solution

Point.

  • A point is a circle with radius tends to(almost) zero and is used to locate any position in n-dimensionalspace using coordinates with respect to the origin

Points lie in same line or same plane are called co-linear or co-planar respectively otherwise they are called non co-linear or non co-planar respectively

Line.

  • A series of points connecting by a straight path form a line. A line is a one-dimensional shape that has length but no width and height. A line extends infinitely in both ends towards opposite directions. Length of a line cannot be measured., It is represented by a single letter.

For example, following line is represented by a single letter say m.

Any two lines can be:

  • Intersecting lines – Intersecting lines cross each other at a point.
  • Parallel lines – Parallel lines do not intersect each other even if extended infinitely
  • Coinciding lines-Coinciding lines are coincide each other through, which have infinitely many intersecting point and are parallel to each other

Thus, A point is a circle with radius tends to(almost) zero and A Line is a series of infinitely many point in a straight path.
