Solution

Substrate

  1. A substrate is a material on which an enzyme acts.
  2. This material is inserted into the enzyme's active site.
  3. As a result, an enzyme-substrate complex is formed.
  4. The enzyme exerts a force on the material, causing it to react and become the product of the initiated reaction.
  5. The enzyme-substrate complex is formed to carry on the reaction.
  6. After the completion of the reaction, the substrate and enzymes get separated.
  7. E.g. carbohydrates, proteins, and amino acids are substrates for enzyme maltase and trypsin.
