Adrenal gland:

  1. They are located on top of both kidneys.
  2. The adrenal medulla and adrenal cortex are two types of tissues that make up the gland.
  3. Adrenaline (epinephrine) and noradrenaline (norepinephrine) are two hormones produced by the adrenal medulla.
  4. Adrenaline and noradrenaline are emergency hormones or Fight or Flight hormones.
  5. These hormones are rapidly released in reaction to stress and during emergencies.
  6. There are three layers to the adrenal cortex: zona reticularis, zona fasciculata, and zona glomerulosa .
  7. The adrenal cortex produces a variety of hormones such as glucocorticoids, androgens, and aldosterone.
