  1. Endosymbionts are creatures living within the body or the cells of another organism in a mutualistic relationship.
  2. Some endosymbionts live inside cells (intracellular), while others attach to the cell's surface (extracellular).

Example of an endosymbiont:

Nitrogen-fixing bacteria (called rhizobia) that dwell in the root nodules of legumes are one example.
