Biocontrol or biological control are the processes where natural predators are used to control the population of pests or an invasive species. Most often, organisms which prey on these pests are termed as biocontrol agents.
The biocontrol agents can vary based on the pest or the invasive species. For instance, an invasive species of weed can be controlled by introducing grazing animals into the environment. The pest or the invasive species may not be completely eliminated, but suppressed to an acceptable level.
