Question

What is displacement? Explain how to solve numerically.

Open in App
Solution

Displacement:

The shortest path between the beginning and end points is referred to as displacement. This same shortest distance, generally traveled in a straight line, is usually chosen over a curved path.

Example: When an item travels from location A to position B, its position changes. Displacement refers to a shift in an object's location.

Formula:

Δx=xfx0

Here,

xf is the final position.

x0 is the initial position.

Δx is the displacement.

Formulas of displacement to solve numerical are as follows:

S=vtS=ut+12at2S=12(u+v)t

Here,

's' is the displacement.

‘v’ is the final velocity.

'u' is the initial velocity.

't' is the time.

‘a’ is the acceleration.
